The Online Video Chat That Never Asks Who You Are
OnlineVideoChat.cam costs nothing to start and runs in your browser. You are matched with a random person who has their camera on, and you can chat before creating any account. Nothing about you is stored.

Is OnlineVideoChat.cam a Chatroulette alternative?
Yes, OnlineVideoChat.cam is a Chatroulette alternative for anyone who liked what Chatroulette was in 2009 and still wants online video chat done that way. Chatroulette today shows you photos to pick from, runs an app, and sells access to its top users for Quids. We kept the random matching and left those additions out.
| The 2009 idea | Chatroulette today | OnlineVideoChat.cam | |
|---|---|---|---|
| How you get matched | At random | Pick from photos, both sides agree | At random |
| Where it runs | A browser tab | Website plus an iOS and Android app | A browser tab, on any device |
| Reaching people | Free | Quids, its in-app currency, for top users | Free |
| Who you are | Unknown to both sides | A selfie, which it says you need to get matches | Unknown to both sides |
Does online video chat need an app here?
No. OnlineVideoChat.cam runs inside the browser, and the same page serves phones, tablets and desktops alike. Nothing gets installed and nothing needs updating.
- Works in every major browser, on iPhone and Android as much as on a laptop.
- The camera and microphone prompt appears once, from the browser itself.
- The first chats ask for no email address, no number and no password.
- Closing the browser tab ends everything. Nothing stays on your device.
We built it for the browser only. An app would need a store account and an app account, and a browser tab needs neither of those.
Who do I get in a random live video chat?
A person whose camera is running right now, picked at random from everyone else who pressed start. Random live video chat on OnlineVideoChat.cam has one entry requirement, a live camera. We only pair people whose feed is on, so a bot, a recording or an empty chair never reaches you.
Live means their camera is on right now. Random means the site picks, with no photo grid to browse and no queue you can pay to skip. When you skip, you get the next person who pressed start.
How anonymous is anonymous video chat here?
Fully. In an anonymous video chat on OnlineVideoChat.cam, your match sees your camera feed and reads your messages. They learn nothing else about you.
| Seen by your match | Kept by us |
|---|---|
| Your live video and audio | Nothing from the session once it ends |
| Messages you type | A report you filed, holding only what its review needs |
| A country flag, if we can place you | No name, address or profile |
The session is encrypted while it travels and while it sits on our servers. We keep no live data and no recordings, so there is nothing that could surface later.
Who moderates an anonymous video chat?
Our team does, based on reports. Nobody at OnlineVideoChat.cam watches or stores the stream. Moderation of anonymous video chat therefore depends on what people report from inside a chat.
Tap report during a chat and the evidence from that session goes to a person on our team. They review it and shut the account behind it when the rules were broken.
This is the trade-off of anonymity. Because nobody watches the stream, the report button is how rules get enforced. The rules are short: adults only, consent on both sides, and no pressure after someone says no.
Is online video chat on OnlineVideoChat.cam free?
Yes. Your first chats on this online video chat cost nothing and need no card, and an account keeps it free. Some paid extras are available, but no chat requires them.
Small questions with short answers
Does this count as an Omegle alternative?
Yes. Omegle's founder closed the site in November 2023 and explained why in a public letter. OnlineVideoChat.cam keeps what Omegle did well: one stranger per chat, no sign-up, and nothing kept afterwards.
Is it videochat or video chat?
Both spellings mean the same thing. Videochat as one word is common in many European languages, and video chat as two words is the English spelling. Google treats them as one query, and this page covers both.
What is the difference between random video chat and live video chat?
Random describes how you are matched, and live describes the person you get. A random video chat gives you the next available person. A live video chat means that person is on camera when you meet, and both apply to every match here.
Does online video chat work from a phone?
Yes, in the phone's browser, with no app. Open the page, accept the camera prompt from Safari or Chrome, and press start. The phone version has every feature the desktop version has.
Does anonymous mean nobody can be reported?
No. Anonymous covers what we keep about you, which is nothing after the session. A report filed during a chat holds what happened in it, and that is enough for us to act on.
What happens to a report I file?
A person on our team reviews it, and access ends for the reported account when the rules were broken. The report is all we retain from a session, and it stays only as long as the review needs it.
Is there a minimum age?
Yes, 18. The age check happens one time, when you first use the site. Anyone under 18 gets no match, and an underage report closes that account.
